Private Voice
In an individual, one-on-one setting, students will learn proper breathing techniques - how to care for the voice, vocal control and diction, tone and pitch, placement of voice, enhancement of range, musicality and confidence of performance. Students sing and perform in recitals in December and April.
Private Piano
For students of all levels, instructors work on basic keyboard skills (scales, chords, rhythm), sight reading and basic music theory. Instructors tailor a program to each student’s needs whether they are a young or adult beginner or preparing to study music in college.
Private Guitar
Students learn to read music, play chords and learn scales. They also learn solo playing, accompaniment, improvisation and finger picking. A guitar for home practice is essential. Our private guitar lessons include acoustic, electric and bass guitar.
P o l i c i e s & P r o c e d u r e s
- All students are required to bring to each lession selected music, a pencil, a notebook, and any other materials the instructor requires.
- Food, beverages, or gum is not allowed in the lesson studios at any time. Only water in a bottle with a lid is permitted.
- If a student is unable to attend a lesson, the instructor must be notified within 24 hours. In order to notify the instructor, please call the Lobby at 225.644.4242. If not notified within 24 hours, a make-up lesson can not be made.
- Monthly tuition remains the same, regardless of the number of weeks or holidays in the month.
- Our private lessons follow a regular session from August-May and a summer session from June to July. If a student is registered for a private lesson, the student is committed for the full term. If at any time a student needs to withdraw from private lessons, the Academy must be notified by the first lesson of that month. If you do not notify us before the first lesson of that month, then you will be financially responsible for all lessons for that month regardless of attendance. We do not give credit or refunds for missed lessons. Private Lesson Students are required to fill out a Private Lesson Discontinuation Form and have it signed by their private lesson instructor.
